Polish B1 sample tests with answers: past exam papers online
The State Commission publishes sample tests and real past exams together with recordings and answer keys. Below are all the B1 papers you can take online with us: with a timer, an answer sheet and marking against the official key.
Updated 3 November 2026
Which official B1 tests are publicly available?
The Commission’s website certyfikatpolski.pl has three kinds of material: sample tests (for B1 from 2017, 2019 and 2020), past session exams from 2021–2024 with recordings and a transcript with the key, and a collection of tasks covering all five parts.
All of these tasks were written by the Commission, which holds the rights to them. We don’t copy the files: the PDF and the recording load from the Commission’s site, and our answer sheet sits next to them. Taking the official papers with us is free.
All B1 papers with an answer sheet: table
Each session has three parts marked against the key: listening (Rozumienie ze słuchu), reading (Rozumienie tekstów pisanych) and grammar (Poprawność gramatyczna). The newest are at the top.

How to take an official paper online
- Open a part from the table and press “Start”. The Commission’s PDF is on the left and the answer sheet on the right; on a phone they are two tabs.
- The timer is set to the time for that part at B1: listening 25 minutes, reading and grammar 45 minutes each.
- Enter your answers on the sheet. If the PDF doesn’t appear in the frame, open it in a new tab with the button below.
- After “Zakończ” the sheet is checked against the Commission’s key: you see your points, percentage, whether you reached the pass mark, and your answer next to the key for every item.
Can I download B1 tests as PDF?
Yes: the Commission publishes all papers, recordings and keys on certyfikatpolski.pl. Each paper’s page on our site links to its PDF and key. Printing is handy, but marking yourself by hand takes time — the answer sheet does it instantly and keeps your attempts.
The task collection: writing and speaking
The Commission’s collection covers all five parts: listening, reading, grammar, writing and speaking. There is no answer sheet with a key for it: you work from the PDF.
Writing and speaking can’t be checked against a key: examiners mark them against criteria. That’s why the official material includes these parts but gives no assessment of your own answer.
What is missing from the official material?
- Feedback on writing. In our writing tests AI checks your text against the Commission’s three criteria and shows the mistakes. AI feedback is part of Premium; you can try it for free on the first test after signing in. See a worked example in B1 writing sample.
- Speaking practice. In the speaking tests you answer aloud: a photo description, a monologue and a dialogue with an examiner who raises obstacles.
- Volume. There are only a few official papers, and you soon remember them. For regular practice use our listening, reading and grammar tests.
- The whole exam in one go. The B1 mock exam has all five parts with a pass or fail result.
In what order to prepare
- The placement test: about 10 minutes, a forecast by part and a plan until the session.
- Our tests by part, starting with your weakest. How to spread a month is in B1 in a month.
- 2–3 weeks before the exam, the official papers under time. Do one whole session at a time: listening, reading and grammar back to back, about two hours.
- The last days are for reviewing mistakes, not new papers.
If you have already done a paper, a second score will be inflated because you remember the answers. So keep the most recent sessions for the end of your preparation.
How to tell you’re ready: the 50% pass mark
At B1 you need at least 50% in each part separately. The percentage is your points divided by the maximum for the part; the answer sheet works it out for you. In practice aim for 60% or more: nerves and unfamiliar topics cost points on the day. If you didn’t pass, read what to do if you failed B1.
B2 and C1 tests
For B2 and C1 we also have the 2021–2024 session exams and the 2017, 2019 and 2020 sample tests with an answer sheet — all on the official papers page. How B2 differs from B1 is covered in B2 or B1.
