How much does the exam cost in 2026?

Until the end of 2026 the adult fee is at most €150 for B1 or B2 and at most €180 for C1 or C2. The exam centre sets the exact price within these limits, so it can differ from city to city. The list of centres and their contacts is on certyfikatpolski.pl.

The last session at the old prices is on 5–6 December 2026 (B1 only). Registration for it is most likely closed or closing now: a centre must enter candidates in the database at least a month before the exam.

How much will the exam cost in 2027?

From 1 January 2027 the fee cap is tied to the average wage for Q3 of the previous year, announced by the President of GUS (art. 11g ust. 5): for the 16+ group, 7 % for B1 and B2 and 9 % for C1 and C2. The centre still sets the price within these limits.

Rough estimate. GUS will announce the Q3 2026 wage in November (stat.gov.pl). Based on the Q2 wage (9,233.13 zł), the cap would be about 646 zł for B1 and B2 and about 831 zł for C1. The real cap will be slightly different. More in our article on the 2027 exam changes.

How much does the certificate cost?

The certificate is paid for separately. Until the end of 2026 it costs €20, and some centres include it in the exam price — ask when you register. From 2027 it costs 100 zł, paid to the centre within 7 days of being told you passed (art. 11a ust. 4c). Only those who pass pay.

Which prices apply to me?

What counts is the date the centre entered you in the Commission’s database, not the exam date. Anyone entered before 1 January 2027 takes the exam under the old rules (art. 3 of the amending act). If you register for a spring 2027 session while it is still 2026, ask the centre when you will be entered and which rules will apply to the fee and the certificate.

How much does the exam cost for teenagers?

From 2027, for candidates who are not yet 16 on the exam day, the cap is lower — 4 % of the average wage for levels A1–B2 (art. 11g ust. 5). For the price of children’s and teenagers’ exams at the 2026 sessions, ask the centre.

State exam or TELC: which is cheaper?

TELC exam prices are also set by the centres and change over time — check them on telc.net or with your chosen centre. Look beyond the price: only the state certificate is accepted for Polish citizenship, while both work for the EU long-term resident card (karta rezydenta długoterminowego UE). Which costs are easy to forget?

  • A retake. Passed parts do not carry over: if you miss the threshold in even one part, you retake the whole exam and pay the full fee again.
  • Re-marking of the written part: €20 until the end of 2026, from 2027 — 20 % of the fee cap. How to apply — in our article failed B1: what next.
  • Travel and time. The exam takes two days, and the centre with a convenient date may be in another city.
  • Preparation: textbooks, courses or a tutor.

How not to pay twice

The most expensive mistake is failing: a second fee plus months of waiting for the next session. Before registering, check that you pass the threshold in each of the five parts:

Some Zdałem tests are free. Full access is Premium: a one-off purchase, not a subscription, from 30 zł for one month to 50 zł for three months. That is far less than a second exam fee.
